Our client is an emerging global food company, with Net Sales in excess of $600 million globally, operating across a range of categories including specialty rice, organic foods and convenience rice based products. The Company is engaged in milling, processing and marketing of branded and non-branded basmati rice, and manufacturing of rice food products in India & international market. They have a global presence including India, Middle East, United Kingdom, Europe and United States. Their operations include contract farming, procurement, storage, processing, packaging and distribution. Their rice product portfolio comprises brown, white, steamed, parboiled, organic, quick cooking brown rice, and ready-to-heat rice.


Job Profile for Maintenance Engineer
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment
  • Repair all production equipment as needed
  • Perform breakdown analysis
  • Perform general housekeeping
  • Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology
  • Work with outside contractors working on the assigned line
  • Change line for package changeovers
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), safety, and audit standards
  • Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
  • Document work schedule and work tasks in complete manner
  • Ensure shop-floor hygiene, food safety, product quality, packaging quality, Total Production Maintenance (TPM) circles
  • Ensure timely, accurate updating and maintenance of information related to department performance

Please note that this position also requires:

  • Continuous work near heat and noise
  • Frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling
  • Holiday work

Candidate Profile for Maintenance Engineer

  • HTS Mechanical engineer
  • Experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
  • Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs)
  • Experience with troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns)
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Pass background check
  • Pass technical assessment addressing job-critical maintenance knowledge areas

Helpful experience

  • Basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
  • Compressors systems (e.g., refrigeration systems)
  • Conveyors and airveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls)
  • Electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)
  • Electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.)
  • Gearing and gearboxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts)
  • Hydraulic systems (high-pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting)
  • Kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.)
  • Review rating instructions
  • Packaging/high-speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.)
  • PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, etc.)
  • Pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting)
  • Pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.)
  • Preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data)
  • Pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs)
  • Schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays)
  • SERVO (e.g., intelligent/robotic motors, in-coders, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem-solving, etc.)
  • Experience working in team-based environments
