Our client is an emerging global food company, with Net Sales in excess of $600 million globally, operating across a range of categories including specialty rice, organic foods and convenience rice based products. The Company is engaged in milling, processing and marketing of branded and non-branded basmati rice, and manufacturing of rice food products in India & international market. They have a global presence including India, Middle East, United Kingdom, Europe and United States. Their operations include contract farming, procurement, storage, processing, packaging and distribution. Their rice product portfolio comprises brown, white, steamed, parboiled, organic, quick cooking brown rice, and ready-to-heat rice.


Job Profile for Plant Manager
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

The Plant Manager is responsible for the effective management of all manufacturing, facilities and staff of the plant. This role assumes responsibility for a variety of assignments and projects, potentially including but not limited to: the efficient, cost-effective and timely fulfilment of productions orders. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall performance and efficiency of the plant in Rotterdam.


  • Manage all the production related activities, and deliver as per production schedule from planning schedule. Schedule Competition
  • Develop & Implement all the equipment SOP’s and process SOP’s
  • Responsible for hiring, training and managing schedules of all the plant associates
  • Implement and follow the food safety and quality guidelines set forth for QA department. Responsible for FTQ (First Time Quality)
  • Responsible for Labour efficiency, Production efficiency and recovery yield. Improve throughput / Cycle time
  • Manage and report utilities usage for the facility
  • Reduce time due to equipment to process related issues – OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Develop annual budgets and annual operating plans for the facility
  • Responsible for no WIP or Rework, reduce wastage
  • Implement 5S and Lean Manufacturing system
  • Report all production posting in SAP
  • Work with Process authority in development of recipe and line trails
  • Develop the production routings for all items being produced
  • Manage all the supplies and cost related to the plant
  • Assist in food safety and GFSI audits
  • Ensure compliance with all the foods safety and quality audit schemes


  • Develop preventive maintenance plan
  • Develop break down maintenance plan
  • Manage all the part inventory and supplies for the maintenance department
  • Schedule all requirement maintenance program
  • Work closely with equipment vendors and operators on the equipment reliability


  • Responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of food processing equipment and lines
  • Develop all the SSOP, CIP and COP procedures and programs  
  • Responsible for all validations of sanitation procedures
  • Hire and train staff for daily sanitation
  • Responsible Pre-production and Post Production line cleaning
  • Order and monitor the usage of all the sanitation chemicals

Candidate Profile for Plant Manager

  • 10 years’ of experience in manufacturing in the food industry
  • Must have rice industry experience
  • Experience with EU regulations (not necessarily having worked in the EU)
  • 5 years’ experience as an Operations Manager, RTH experience highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or food technology
  • Prior SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization and able to work with multiple departments (QA, R&D, Warehouse, Finance)
  • Kaizen Six Sigma Certification highly desirable (Green Belt or higher)
  • Must have a driving license
