Our client, a highly respected and extremely prestigious world leader in integrated energy and chemicals, is looking for an Interim Financial Advisor to join their dynamic, multicultural and multilingual organisation in The Hague.

The Interim Financial Advisor will provide professional advice and services to the daily activities of a Finance Unit in order to resolve complex finance issues, develop, recommend and implement changes to Finance policies and to successfully prepare financial forecasts, reports and other analyses ultimately aiming for providing the best possible business environment for the company and its affiliates.



Job Profile for Interim Financial Advisor
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Finance Operations

  • Provide periodical (mostly weekly and monthly) management reporting on the activities of Finance Operations including its KPIs and Work Load Indicators
  • Monitor and reconcile vendor accounts and correspond with vendors on missing records and discrepancies
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal divisions on cost control problems and infractions of contract
  • Coordinate with Treasury to ensure streamlining of processes in the area of cash forecasts
  • Assist with coordination of internal audits on behalf of Finance Division

Business Control

  • Develop and continuously improve governance framework for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Development and continuously improve the company’s policy management framework
  • Maintain and support of Enterprise Risk Management framework
  • Monitor the implementation of risk treatments
  • Maintain, continuously improve and monitor the audit follow up process and related reporting
  • Coordinate the audit follow up process, advise divisions on implementation of audit recommendations
  • Maintain and continuously improve financial planning and budget performance processes including system optimisation and reporting
  • Perform controls on budget performance compliance and support month-end closing process
  • Prepare in-depth analysis, cost models and calculations
  • Provide advisory to the external and affiliated customers and stakeholders regarding service provision
  • Perform financial assessments of vendors and issue assessment reports, manage records and prepare relevant reports. Continuously improve vendor assessment process, procedure and reports
  • Advise on use of risk mitigating tools such as performance, bank, parent company guarantees
  • Develop and continuously improve of policies and procedures related to contract review and cost compliance controls
  • Perform contract review and cost compliance activities
  • Provide advice and analytics on cost management and cost compliance related matters
  • Review and maintain the authorised expenditure Limits on contracts
  • Develop and continuously improve the insurance management process
  • Analyse organisational risks exposure for possible extension of insurance coverage
  • Develop and continuously improve the internal control framework

Accounting, Treasury & Tax

  • Perform the End of Month Financial closing processes including the full consolidation of subsidiaries, branch activities
  • Prepare supporting documentation and analyses related to the aforementioned to support the company as well as external auditors
  • Support preparation of financial and management reporting to HQ and the Management team on a monthly basis
  • Support preparation of statutory Financial Statements in conformity with EU-IFRS
  • Execute Tax compliance activities
  • Support in maintaining Tax Control Framework
  • Ensure external compliance with regard to chamber of commerce and Tax reporting
  • Execute Corporate Tax/ VAT consultation and reporting
  • Coordinate and manage banking activities including bank guarantees
  • Coordinate and implement credit card management and procedures
  • Coordinate, and be responsible for, monthly and weekly cash forecasts
  • Execute hedging currency exchange risks
  • Review and approve payment documents and ensure successful handling of payments

Candidate Profile for Interim Financial Advisor

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Must  have Bachelor or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field
  • Have at least 5 years of considerable work experience within Finance
  • Initiative, quality orientation, customer focus, accountability, networking/relationship management are required competencies
