Job Profile for Procurement Officer
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Principal Function

  • Manage purchase requisition/orders
  • Evaluate cost and quality of materials, equipment, products, and services
  • Maintain current technical skills and apply new knowledge to management of tasks for the improvement of purchasing activities
  • Develop and manage purchasing policies, standards, and strategies in order to ensure process transparency, fairness and confidentiality
  • Plan, organise, direct, manage and evaluate the purchasing activities/budget
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of reports/strategies related to the purchasing functions for upper management
  • Achieve the best price per unit on goods and services using strategic partnerships, negotiation skills, and persuasions


You are accountable for but not limited to:

  • Maximising the benefits of strategic contracts and supplier partnerships
  • Source and procure goods and services on behalf of the organisation from contracted suppliers
  • Procure goods that meet the quality requirements of our clients
  • Provide services to clients in a timely manner

Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment

As Team member you will also be part of an ongoing assessment program looking at: 

  • Carry out your roles and responsibilities in relation to the implementation of RWIS workplace quality, environment, health and safety policies and procedures
  • Report and assist in the identification of hazards, assessment, and controls of risks and accident investigations
  • Encourage efficient use of resources to minimize waste (unnecessary energy use)
  • Look for opportunities to reuse and recycle items
  • Procuring of goods that meet customer expectations with regards to documentation and product deliverables

Human Relations

You are accountable for but not limited to:

  • Display flexibility in the working hours in order to assist other team members and  improve the efficiency of the department


The training requirements of your role are those where you have accountability for the development of yourself.  You will be assessed on how well these requirements are met:

  • Ensure any skill deficiencies you may have been discussed with the General Manager to enhance your performance
  • Actively participate in quality, health, safety, and environmental management processes and undertake training as identified

Practical & Technical

You are accountable for the schedule of your own work and the work of your colleagues but not limited to:

  • Design workflow and procedures within your department to the best benefit of the company
  • Gather and analyse information skillfully and present numerical data effectively
  • Monitor transactions, evaluate results and provide regular performance feedback
  • Understand business implications of decisions and work within approved budgets
  • Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, unexpected events and generate suggestions for improving work
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and display willingness to make decisions

Key Performance Indicators

  • Achieve less than 1% emergency orders due to short stock supply
  • Provide monthly report on cost of goods procured to the general manager
  • Contract compliance level
  • Procurement cycle time


Candidate Profile for Procurement Officer

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience that involves procurement and supply chain services
  • Demonstrable interpersonal relationship with clients
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven initiative
  • Proven teamwork and membership
  • A driver’s license
  • Acquired Technical Knowledge
